Following the end of the Tang Hall Big Local project which that delivered Youth work in Tang Hall since 2018, NYY were recently successful in receiving funding from the Lottery Communities Fund. This funding is a joint bid with The Conservation Volunteers (TCV) and Choose2Youth and offers exciting new youth projects in Tang Hall and surrounding areas. The main focus of this project is to encourage young people to spend more time in green places.
The project provides a range of activities for young people aged 11-16 and includes: weekly open access Youth Club in Tang Hall Community Centre, a girls group in Hull Road park, a quieter drop-in session at the local library, monthly Young Rangers and family gardening groups in Hull Road Park, and seasonal fun and activity days. This new contract called ‘Reaching Out’ also includes detached Youth work which engages with young people who are out and about in the Tang Hall, Derwenthorpe and Osbaldwick area.
NYY are enjoying a great start to this new project and can’t wait to develop our plans in the coming months.
