Responsibilities: As a Change Direction Youth Mentor I am responsible for the development of positive, trusting relationships with Young People aged between 10 – 17.
The contact I have with Young People occurs mainly in Schools
The Young People I provide support for are usually known to the Police, or are displaying behaviours that could lead to Police involvement
My role is to provide nurture and support to Young People that may be at risk from entering the Youth Justice Service or those that may be at risk of re-offending, to provide practical support via needs-led interventions.
To identify any underlying causes that may lead the Young Person to enter into Anti-Social/Criminal activities via an emotional trauma - informed approach
To refer or signpost to other services when required
Favourite part of your job: Is definitely the relationships that can be formed with some of our most challenging young people, providing opportunities that may not be an option for some, representing our young people when others may have given up
Hobbies/Interest: Big dog lover ! so love being out walking
